What this is, and what it is not

AbilityAccess Directory is a directory. We introduce you to providers and peer support groups and then step out of the way. We are not a party to any agreement you reach with them, we do not supply the service, and we take no commission on it.

We do not give medical, legal or financial advice. Nothing on this site is a substitute for advice from a registered professional who knows your circumstances.

This is not a crisis service. Nobody monitors this site or the WhatsApp assistant around the clock. If you are in danger or need urgent help, contact emergency services or a crisis line.

Listing does not mean endorsement

We verify what we reasonably can — registration numbers with the relevant professional council, and the access details a provider declares. A listing means those checks were done. It is not a warranty about quality of care, and it is not a recommendation.

Satisfy yourself about any provider before engaging them: check registration directly with the council, ask about insurance, and get quotes as you would with any supplier.

Access information

Access details are supplied by providers and group facilitators and checked at review. Buildings change, lifts break, and accessible toilets get used as store rooms. We cannot guarantee that a detail is still accurate on the day you travel.

If you find an access detail is wrong, tell us. We correct access details the same day, and repeated problems get a listing paused until the provider confirms it is resolved.

Using the directory

• It is free, and no account is required.
• Ratings you give must reflect your genuine experience of a provider we referred you to.
• Support group enquiries go to volunteer facilitators. Treat what is shared in a group as confidential, and expect others to do the same.

Listing a service or practice

• Listing is free while we grow. If that changes, we will tell you well before any charge applies.
• Every application is reviewed by a person. We may decline or remove a listing at our discretion, including where information cannot be verified or where a registration has lapsed.
• You must hold and maintain any registration, licence or insurance your profession requires, and tell us promptly if that changes.
• Condition experience and access features you declare must be accurate. Over-claiming either is grounds for removal.
• Position in results comes from ratings by people we referred. Placement is not for sale, and attempting to manipulate ratings is grounds for removal.
• You confirm the WhatsApp number you give us may be shared with people looking for what you offer.

Listing a support group

• Free, permanently. Groups are never ranked, scored or rated.
• You are responsible for the safety and conduct of your group, and for handling enquiries with discretion.
• Keep your meeting dates and access notes current. A calendar that is wrong is worse than no calendar.

Ratings and content

Only someone we actually referred can rate a provider. We may remove ratings or listing content that is unlawful, misleading, or clearly not a genuine account.

Availability

We provide the service as it is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that any provider or group will respond, or that any particular volume of referrals will follow from a listing.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your dealings with a provider or group found through this directory. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

Ending things

You can stop using the service at any time — send STOP on WhatsApp and we delete that conversation. A provider or group can ask to be unlisted at any time and we will action it the same day.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
